Sam Jarman you are a legend!!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you Sam for the two lessons you have given me so far. Having
just returned home from a captains weekend at the Forest of Arden i
cant believe (neither can anyone else) how much you have changed my
game. Having gone out on the sunday playing off 19 I came in with 39
points with two blobs on my card (holes 1 and 2) and I won the day.
Today we played the Arden course, I was cut two shots (17) as a result
of my sunday score and although it was a much more difficult course I
still managed a score of 31 points and came second, the weekend trophy
was presented to me for the best combined score over the two days. I AM
WELL HAPPY!!
Everything you have taught me so far I have stuck
with and it really has made a big difference, the drill that you told
me to do with my practise swing having both feet together and
transferring my weight from my right leg to my left really does work
and I did this with every practise swing I took. I will continue with
my new game over the next month or so and book
another lesson with you in about four weeks.
Once again Sam thank you very much
Regards
Chris
Hello Sam,
Just been away in the US for a week so a bit behind on emails. In summary my golf is awesome! That 'weird' grip you gave me now seems normal! There are two main differences now. First, I hit the ball much straighter consistently, and I'm slowly eradicating the percentage of bad shots I hit.
Second, the quality of strike, especially off the tee with my driver is immeasurably better. Some of the shots I can hit now are the best I have
ever hit.
I've played a lot more golf too, and have had two competition rounds right on my handicap, including one on a difficult course in the USA. So that is
real progress.
So all in all a very, very happy customer, thanks! I still want to find time to get over for a putting lesson so hope to see you soon.
Best regards
Malcolm
Just a quick update on how my game has improved since starting seeing you last Autumn and working with the Explanar.
I came 2nd in Divison 1 in the Medal in March. This was 4th overall losing out on 3rd on countback and got my handicap cut to 9.4 from 9.8. I was 1 of only 4 in div 1 to shoot net par or lower, with loads of "better" players than me having a nightmare in their 1st medal of the season, which made me feel very good about things. This is also the 1st time I've been cut for about 18 months, only 0.4 but it's in the right direction. This was the 1st qualifying comp of the year after the course has been reassesed, now a Par 71, SS 71.
Things have gone even better since! In the April medal in 25mph winds I shot a gross 73, 64 net to blow the field (and myself) away to win by 5 shots - my BEST EVER SCORE! Not only was that best gross by 2 shots, with over 60 in the field, 20 of them were a lower handicap than my 9.4, the lowest being a handicap of 1. I had diffiulty staying in the present on the front 9, shooting a 3 over gross 39.
I let the fact that the group in front would not call us through even though they were out of position and we were waiting on nearly every shot distract me. Things improved on the back 9 as the group in front got a move on. I'd droppd 3 shots to par on 8 & 9 but was still 1 under my HC at the turn, so I said to myself
'You're under your handicap, just try and stay in the present like Sam wants me to.' I slipped into "the zone" and walked off the 18th with no idea what I'd scored (although I obviously knew it was good). I shot a 1 under gross back 9! I couldn't believe it and counted it up 3 times just to make sure!
Again loads of the "better" players had poor scores which with me shooting the lowest gross score phycologically puts me in a different frame of mind as I now know I can compete on an even footing with these guys, rather than feel they're somehow better. The bubble might burst but for now it's a brilliant feeling and I'm going to work hard to try and improve further, working on the things we've discussed
Thanks, Ade.
Hi Sam,
Just wanted to take a moment to say thanks! In the 2 years I have been playing golf, I have had different lessons from different Pro’s, from different parts of the country. None of them have made the dynamic impact on my game like you have. Your down to earth teaching style and your ability to relate a simple but powerful golf swing has made it easy for me to take on board and apply the information from your lessons, which now means I’m playing the best golf of my life! I have gone from a mid handicap when we first met down to a single figure handicap in the space of 9 months and now consistently break 80!
I look forward to our next lesson and with your help, soon breaking 70!
Thanks again. Matt
Hi Sam,
Hi Sam,
I have just played in the midweek medal at South Beds, scored net 65, six shots under my handicap!! Apart from being called a bandit, it was a great day. Gross 78, my best ever score. I guess the lessons are working. Well done and thanks, see you again soon.
Cheers,
Dave
Hi Sam,
I just shot 89! Thats 7 under for me. Your coaching is really getting my head in the right place. Thanks loads.
PS Thats 7 better than any round I've shot this year, and it was off the back tees.
Ian
Hi Sam,
I thought I’d update you on my golf. [I’m not sure if I’d be contacting you if I wasn’t so pleased!] I’ ve just played 18 holes at Abbey Hill. If I hadn’t blown the par 3 17th, I would have gone round in under 100 today. However I scored 4 pars & 6 “1 over par” including the 18th. My whole round was 101. I am so pleased & grateful to you for helping me to achieve this. I am playing at Mowsbury on Friday 7 will be gutted if I don’t beat today’s score, as I know I can easily do better. I’ll keep you posted.
Kind Regards
Michael
Hi Sam,
I am excited about the work we have done to date and the results I have seen in these early stages.
I really appreciate the review notes - will be a great reference point. I played this afternoon - shot 77 including 11 greens in regulation so I am well chuffed. The additional bonus is I hit 5 chips inside of 4 feet although one was a bit stabby but I know why!! Hit a few high drives down the right flank but also hit some pure drawing tee shots so I know the move and feelings I need to be achieving.
Early days but I am feeling really good about the changes - a big thanks for all you help and support to date.
Jez
Hello Sam,
I genuinely enjoyed our session on Tuesday. I realise there is no instant panacea for the challenges of golf but some positive thoughts and manageable adjustments to the basics really do help. I came away with only good thoughts about the game. As I said "if you charged by the smile you'd be a millionaire! " I handed in my clubs for re-gripping and I shall be out on the course with my regular mates on Sunday for some "fun" competitive golf. The Explanar is something I'd wanted to try since I saw Luther demo it at the NEC. It really is a reinforcement of that old Hogan swing plane and I'd be keen to use it briefly every now and then as a reminder. Give me a little while to get back into a routine of work, life and golf and I'll be coming to you for some more friendly advice on rotation etc.
Good to have you at our club!
Best Regards
Alan
Hi Sam,
I just wanted to thank you for the lesson and previous advice - a revelation.
Best regards,
David
Hi Sam
Thanks for that. Just to let you know I had a great round yesterday. I scored 77 (standard scratch 72) and that was with 3 putting the 18th green because I got really nervous!!! I am now down to 7 handicap. I was absolutely delighted and just wanted to say thanks for all your help. (Hope I haven't peaked too early before the County Champs!!) Enjoy your hols.
See you next Tues.
Regards, Juliette
Sam,
Just a "thank you" for the few holes we played on Sunday evening.
Yesterday I broke 80 (79 is less than 80!!) for the first time in a hundred years ---- including an ugly 7 down the 2nd.
Enjoy your fishing.
Cheers, Ian.
Hi Sam
Many thanks, I will work on the issues you have pointed out and see you in about a month.
Thanks for the help, I feel I am making progress.
See you soon
Regards, John
Hi Sam
Thanks for this. Yes, sorry I missed you, but I have to say I hit some great shots! Kept my concentration and focussed on the flexed knee and the grip. You are a great teacher!!
Best regards,
Jules
Hi Sam

Hi Sam,
Thanks for the practice schedule, you know me I will get on to it next time I'm at the range. I still need to book in for a lesson this month ( thinking evening of the 20th April as I am back from the college, about 7 ish, let me know). Had to let you know because i am over the moon, I finally broke 90 and finished a full course with 88.
See you soon.
